The Benefits of drinking PURE WATER
and staying hydrated

Picture
When the mercury rises and temperatures soar; getting enough to drink is important whether; playing sports, exercising, traveling, relaxing or sitting on the beach.  By the time you feel thirsty, you may already be dehydrated.

It’s critical for your heart health.  Keeping the body hydrated helps the heart to pump blood more easily through the blood vessels to the muscles.  If you're well hydrated, your heart doesn't have to work so hard as being well hydrated prevents the blood from becoming thicker.

Dehydration can be a serious condition that can lead to a number of problems ranging from swollen feet, or a headache to life-threatening illnesses such as heat stroke.

What does being well hydrated mean? The amount of water a person needs depends on climatic conditions, clothing being worn, exercise intensity and the duration.
A person who perspires heavily will need to drink more than someone who doesn’t. Certain medical conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease and other conditions, may also mean you need to drink more water. And some medications can act as diuretics, causing the body to lose more fluid.  We hear we should drink at least 2 litres of water daily, but this varies depending on many factors.

The easiest way to tell if you're well hydrated is to pay attention to the colour of your urine:
  • if it's pale and clear this means you're well hydrated;
  • if it's dark you need to drink more hydrating fluids.  Not all fluids are hydrating; alcohol and fluids containing caffeine have a diuretic effect.

Why it's good to keep well Hydrated
  • Convert food and fuel to energy. Hydration keeps your metabolism going with energy and fat burning functions.
  • Maintain healthy blood levels.  Hydration keeps your blood at the correct thickness, if too thick it can lead to heart disease and stroke.
  • Keep joints and cartilage lubricated and soft.  Hydration can reduce joint pain and maintain normal movement.
  • Transport oxygen-rich blood and nutrients.  Hydration helps to carry oxygen and nutrients throughout the body.
  • Remove Body waste.  Hydration helps the liver and kidneys remove waste through body fluids.
  • Digest foods.  Water creates saliva. The enzymes in saliva break down food and liquid to dissolve minerals and nutrients and make them more accessible to the body.
  • Maintain constant body temperature.  Hydrate well to keep the body temperature steady.  When the body senses an increase in core temperature, it sweats to cool the body.

Drink Pure Water

We can buy pure water easily at the supermarket or we can harvest our own and store safely and then filter before drinking.
For most people, water is the best thing to drink to stay hydrated.

Drink Infused Water

Some people don't like the taste of water and have difficulty keeping their body hydrated.  Vegetables and herbs are a great way of adding a fresh and delicious flavour to your water and also adding some health benefits.
Ginger sliced and added to water has a very pleasant taste and studies have shown ginger has a wide range of health benefits that may support improved digestion; regulate insulin production to aid diabetes, lower blood pressure and cholesterol and improve cardiovascular health.
HYDRATE YOUR BODY WITH - pure water, vegetable infused pure water and coconut water; all have many benefits in keeping your body well hydrated.
