The

and reap the rewards and health benefits.

We have had a bumper crop of lemons this season with plenty more on the trees.  The wonderful part is being able to share the abundance with family and friends.

Enjoy!!

CHICKEN SOUP - sometimes only chicken soup will do!

Chicken soup is sometimes referred to as Jewish Penicillin, because it is so beneficial in recovery from some illnesses.  The ingredients are very important and we suggest organic and pure foods to be used:
Ingredients:
  • 1-2 kg organic chicken
  • 3 onions, 2 halved unpeeled, 1 peeled finely diced
  • 5 carrots, 2 unpeeled, cut 2" 3 peeled cut 1"
  • 5 celery stalks, cut in 2" pieces 1/2 small turnip
  • 4 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 teaspoon garlic crushed
  • Salt (quality) and Pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup white wine (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill or 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • Soba buckwheat noodles
Picture
1. Put chicken, 2 unpeeled onions, 2 unpeeled carrots, 2 celery stalks, turnip, garlic and bay leaf into a large pot. Fill with water to cover. Set over high heat and bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer, uncovered, for 2 hours. Occasionally skim the froth as it develops on the surface and discard.
2. Remove from heat and allow stock to come to a safe temperature. Place a colander in a bowl large enough to contain the chicken stock. Pour soup through the colander into the bowl. Remove colander to separate stock from vegetables and chicken pieces.
3. Rinse the soup pot well. Using the cheesecloth, strain the soup back into the pot. Repeat using clean cheesecloth until the broth is clear. Refrigerate stock several hours or overnight. Meanwhile, remove chicken from the bone, tear into edible pieces and set aside. Discard vegetables and bones.
4. Remove and discard congealed fat from the surface of the refrigerated chicken soup. Place the pot over high heat and bring to a boil. Lower heat to simmer and add peeled onion, carrot and celery, garlic, salt, pepper to taste. Simmer until vegetables are soft, about 40 minutes. Add wine if desired and noodles and simmer for 5 minutes. Adjust seasoning and lower heat enough to keep soup hot, add reserved chicken and dill.

JOIN A CHOIR

Picture
Enjoy the involvement and pleasure of making music!
If you want to improve your immune system, join a Choir.  The physical benefits of singing include improved breathing and posture; increased concentration, self-confidence and relaxation; and stress relief.  There is nothing like belting out a good song to get rid of the cobwebs and feel great.
Researchers at the University of California have shown that choir members' levels of immunoglobulin A increased by 150% during rehearsals and by 240% during performances.

The most common barriers are the thought that you can't sing.  If you can talk you can sing.  Some people certainly sing better than others, but everyone can sing and enjoy it.  Contact your local Church or other community groups to see what is available in your local area as if it is close to home you will be more likely to get involved and stay involved.
